About the studio

We started with a scale and a spreadsheet

LAMBHOLM began because two knitters could not answer a simple question from a customer: how heavy
is this jumper? Most brands do not publish it. We decided to publish everything we measure —
gauge, micron, grams, the mill that spun the yarn — on the product page, before you buy.

Small runs, single spinners

Each yarn in the collection comes from one spinner: lambswool from a mill in the Scottish Borders,
cashmere from Inner Mongolia, extra-fine merino from a single Italian spinner. Buying in quantity
means we can trace a batch, and it means we do not change the yarn when the season changes.

Fully fashioned, not cut and sewn

Our panels are knitted to shape on flat-bed machines. It is slower and it wastes less yarn, and it
is the reason the armhole lies flat instead of bunching under a jacket. Necks are hand-linked by the
same two people who have done it for us since the first sample.

Repairs, not replacements

Every piece carries two years of free repair, moth holes included. Send it back, we darn it, we
return it. A jumper should outlive the season it was bought in.
